What is Kava Kava?

Kava kava is a beverage that is made from Piper methysticum, a plant native to the South Pacific islands. The Polynesians have been consuming Pure Kava for thousands of years. Kava kava is a tea like drink made from dried roots that are pounded into a fine powder and then saturated in water and then strained. This mixture is then consumed during important ceremonial events and as a social gatherings.




 

Kava Kava is said to calm anxiety, stress, and restlessness, and to treat sleeping problems like insomnia. It has also been used for attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHA), and aid in withdrawal from benzodiazepine drugs, epilepsy, depression, migraines and other headaches and other respiratory tract infections, muscle pain and cancer prevention. Some people also use kava kava for urinary track infections (UTIs), to help relief pain and swelling of the uterus, venereal disease, menstrual discomfort, and to increase sexual desire. Kava has also been used and applied to the skin for skin diseases including leprosy, to promote wound healing, and as a painkiller.
